Eduouard Lefevre, Ed Lef in short, has the worst possible background. He is something of an Oedipus figure as he, at the tender age of 17, kills his father in a hopeless attempt to save his incestuous mother. Lef escapes to the Foreign Legion and is thrown into the Algerian War directly from Boot Camp. His Legionnaire father has already turned him into a formidable fighting machine. Now he hones his skills, gets engaged in conspiracies, and survives suicide missions. His Parachute Regiment, the 1ere REP, is dissolved following the attempted coup against de Gaulle in 1961. Lef's five-year contract expires at that time, but his engagement gets terminated. He's too rough to be reassigned to the 2 eme REP. Instead he is decorated and promoted to sergeant before getting honourably kicked out. With no other skills than killing, Ed Lef decides to capitalize on his mercenary talents. Soon he becomes an international "operator" and gets so see de Gaulle. Through his rifle scope.
