Clyde Baxter, known as CB, is a retired ranger. Gray Dog, his tracker and partner, and Hester, his wife, worked his cattle ranch with Shiloh as his foreman. Judge Howard Forrest, his wife Hannah and his son Langston, come to the ranch and hire CB to find his runaway daughter, Marjorie. They find her in San Francisco with Brady Giles, Hannah's brother, singing in a saloon. Someone is trying to kill CB and his friends, but why?
