This is exclusively an apartment dog. He is perfect for everybody families with kids and old people. The Shih Tzu is a strong dog despite his frail appearance. His fur needs great care, especially if he gets in beauty contests, an activity that many masters plan for him. Do not forget that he has other needs, in addition to being pampered. He is playful, dynamic, and always ready for a walk. He is obedient, reliable, and smart. Outgoing, cuddly and very sentimental, always there for his master, sensitive and observant, he knows everything about you. He is very sociable and he will be happy to meet your relatives and friends. On the street, he will be 'friends' with the strangers that show interest in him. He accepts all the other dog breeds. And with some diplomacy from you, he will be on good terms with cats. He doesn't fear temperature variations but he doesn't tolerate heatwaves well. The Shih Tzu can be easily educated, but you have to be calm because he hates yelling, gentle because you shouldn't rush him, patient because his education can last up to eighteen months and should always be updated. During puberty, around 7-8 months old, the young Shih Tzu will test you, you shouldn't give in to him, but do not frustrate him.
