The High School US II classes in room C-219 of Columbia Highs School in Maplewood N. J. began to work on a poetry book of the topics they covered 1st and 2nd marking periods the Fall of 2017. In January of 2018, students in five classes chose topics that fall into the realm of Manifest Destiny, Indian Wars, slavery, and the age of American Imerialism. The goal was to review past lessons taught, to choose a topic that most resinated with a student, to put their thought in poetry form on paper, and to create a book that could be enjoyed by family, friends, other students, and would be feather in the cap of students during college interviews to say, "Yea, I have a work published in a poetry book."The task was to be informative, educational, and fun and to create a rememberance for others to enjoy as well.
