It's Moira's first time going into the city of Emberholde! The only problem is, she didn't really get permission to go. After escaping from bandits on the road, who tried to stop Moira and her brother Reilly, Moira is pleased to spend the day in town, exploring and playing with the other kids. But the city is not quite what she'd hoped it would be. The people there are snobby, and not all of the kids want to play with Moira. When the returning bandits catch Moira and another girl outside the city walls, the girls find themselves in great danger. Taken captive by the bandits, Moira faces a difficult decision. Should she wait for the demanded ransom to be paid, or try to escape on her own? Moira is sure that they will kill her if her father is unable to come up with the ransom money! Will he come to her rescue in time? Or can she escape without his help?
