Kevin Polcyn was not impressed when he received an old-fashioned quill pen for his thirteenth birthday. But when he and best friend Marcus Wilkes discover it is not a normal pen, they decide the pen is worth exploring. They find they can transport themselves to any adventure they write. After a few trial runs, they decide to really put the pen to the test. They write themselves back in time so that they are on the Titanic the day it hits the iceberg and sinks. They hope that first hand knowledge will give them an edge for a school assignment. The problem is only they are to know about the pen and its magical abilities. But classmate Sue Kay Parker latches onto them as they make the transition. Sue Kay doesn't follow the rules of staying together and the boys suddenly find themselves searching desperately for her before the ship sinks. As they sit in a lifeboat and watch the great ship sink, they must decide whether to return to their time and leave Sue Kay or hope that they can survive the sinking despite the odds. This series is meant to encourage young readers to explore subjects in a fun and encouraging way.
