The results of the November 2016 general election created a true sense of shock and awe among traditional conservative Republicans and Democrats alike. The victor, Donald J. Trump, marched into Washington, D. C. with his populist warriors in tow. He was proceeded by his Praetorian Guard, the loyal surrogates, who continued to arouse the emotions, passions, and prejudices of his base with the most popular campaign phrases: "Build the Wall" and "Drain the Swamp." Trump made sure that his partisans knew his priorities: Draining the Swamp of its bankers, leeches and lobbyists was first on his list. Political discourse became an intense form of verbal combat where "winning" was the sole objective. But the Swamp was not drained; it was harvested. Truth was the first fatality of Trump's New World Order.
