Although in the far reaches of space there are no relatives to determine direction, after barely a moment, Prescient passed beyond the outer reaches of the Milky Way, and soon, Andromeda appeared on the horizon, as it were. Although the Milky Way is replete with many star systems containing numerous attendant planets, a few of which appeared to have life forms in various stages of evolutionary development, Andromeda, at least to Prescient, came as a bit of a lonely surprise.
