The story is set in the fag end of British rule in India. A snake escapes from a snake charmers basket and grows a pair of milky white fangs. Hindu's pray to it even after it bites and kills four humans. It becomes a killer. James Powell is an officer in the British Government of India. He is exasperated when he sees someone praying to snakes. Even a coiled one sitting on a scare crows head. The snake however becomes a terror in the area it haunts until it is finally caught by a snake charmer and taken away to once more live a life of disgrace in Human bondage.
