Two impulses are identified, "natural & organic" based on sensing, feeling, seeing & being, & "techne truth"based on believing, thinking, having, & knowing. Three major obsessions are identified, the "axial sensibility" focus on "living in but not being of this world," "the ego-identity," the individual as a separate entity, and the "technological imperative" that everything, including human life- existence, has a conceptual, technical and rational base discovered and known in a pure thought context, beyond nature & earth and outside of human experience. The book focuses on the primary "Question of Meta-Physics" - What is "being human" reality?" and offers antidotes for the abstract-artificial "disease"of "teknosis" the state of being that eliminates the natural-organic and human experience. The fundamental difference in the "Pre-Axial" age and the "New Singularity" or post-human era is that the old, oral and intuitive-spiritual primitives & natives "saw & felt" nature as a "Thou" being- divine and sacred, but in the Post-Human era, nature is thought to be an "It" to be known in an abstract-artificial way. This "new reality" is hardly related to the question of "being-human" reality which is a sensing, feeling, seeing, and being real experience. This is not a part of the "symbiotic relationship" of human and ultra-computer. Some antidotes are prescribed to help bring the two impulses back into balance & harmony & to restore the inherent organic-natural connectedness of the old symbiosis of human, nature, earth, mind, spirit, and experience which was the basis of "being human" reality, that is, a human being, being humanly connected to the organic- natural impulse of mindfully living here and now "in this world and of this world." The "First Question of Meta-Physics" must be "What is Being Human Reality, ?" and this is a "Being" experience not a "Knowing" answer.
