Every Soul Needs a Guide Ep’
Vince Watson
After a 5 year gap, Vince Watson released what is now his 7th! album to the world in March to great critical acclaim. 5 years is a long time to wait for something...but some things in life are worth waiting for. His last full length album, ‘The eMotion Sequence’ on Delsin in late 2006 was a finely crafted slice of layered electronics, and as is typical of all of Watson’s albums, they have been different flavours and this latest album carried the theme forward. ‘Every Soul Needs A Guide’ however takes Vince to the next level of production and artistic presence. Fusing elements of modern day club music, electronica, ambient, classical piano playing with nu-jazz and broken beat, he has created a masterpiece which tells a beautiful story from start to finish. Here on this EP, Vince has selected 3 of the albums tracks, as well an exclusive. Starting with a club version of the album’s title track, Every Soul Needs A Guide. Its got roots in House, Techno and Latin Jazz, but in reality its a fusion of all of the above and displays some wonderful production techniques along the way. The word inspiring is overly used thesedays, but it defines the soul of this track perfectly. Following this is the quite breathtaking Never Too Late with its lounge and jazz track roots, cementing Vince’s one-man band status as intact. Beautiful chilled out percussion and double bass soak up the timely keys and give you a real sense of the man’s artistic prowess. Stunning... On the flip we have Love In F Minor, which was released originally in 2009.. on this version Watson has changed the groove entirely and leaves a simply sublime club version which fits nicely into the current environment somewhere between house and techno...with huge deep strings and basslines galore in between. Last but not least, The Knowledge bring us an epic journey of intricate chord arrangements and melodies in what is very Underground Resistance in flavour but with the touch of Watson to top
