Jane was sure she'd find her dream PR job and didn't expect her marriage to be over before its first Christmas, but she was wrong on both accounts. Being divorced and jobless Jane returns home to Holly Springs, the last place she wants her failures to be publicized. Soon everyone in the small town knows about her, but it isn't until she reconnects with Oliver, her high school sweetheart that someone finally knows her. Oliver was sure he'd buried his feelings for Jane and that nothing could upend his comfortable life but he was wrong on both accounts. Taking over his family's salvage yard and finding a talent for turning trash into treasure, the last thing he wants are reminders of past heartbreak. Crossing paths with Jane scratches at the surface of the pain he worked hard to bury. He attempts to avoid all things Jane until he learns of her recent divorce. Will Jane be able to pick up the shattered pieces of her self-worth and will Oliver finally put Jane ahead of his fear?
