Sweet Liberty
Sweet Liberty was formed in the summer of 1997 when guitarist Michael Suico and bassist Jim Liberty first got together. Orphaned from their previous bands, the two jammed at the suggestion of co-workers and have been inseparable ever since. Now with the addition of a tremendous all around musician-- Mark Wickliffe--we make a consistent effort to create fresh music from CD to CD... There was a time when our music was compared to Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against the Machine (minus the rapping), early Pearl Jam and King's X. Our long association has seen the development of an identifiable writing style that is at once recognizable but avoids repetition. However, the classification of our music remains a little difficult. Although "alternative-progressive-funky-psychedelic-rock "might work, it seems a bit pretentious. We think it's best left at "rock and roll" with a little description from each of us, an 'edge" as they say... There are days when creativity comes easy, but we do work hard to compose songs that groove without being a music theory lesson. What we're proudest of in our music is our restraint. It's easy to over play at times, but we remain conscious of writing and playing for the songs. I guess you can say that a true definition of our music is a ' modern representation of old-fashion songwriting-with an edge".
