Electroma
Daft Punk's
Two robots embark on a long and arduous trek across the Southwestern United States in a bid to become human. Along the way, they undergo a prosthetic 'makeover' that gives them the facial appearance of humans. But this attracts hostility from the other robots, who regard them as traitors to their kind. As they are chased out of town, their new faces--like the wings of Icarus--begin to melt under the searing midday sun. Defeated, the pair continue their fruitless journey, on foot, through the inhospitable desert...
Written and directed by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter--better known as electro-dance pioneers Daft Punk--ELECTROMA is a curious breed of film; part science fiction, part existential drama, and part road movie. But then, Daft Punk never did make their name by being conventional.
