The idea of being able to release complete or almost complete tours in a physical format has existed for many years. The historical King Crimson box sets attempted to compile both studio recordings and the available live recordings from the respective periods. As one of the sound testers for the 2017 Islands / Earthbound box set noted: "Listening to the concerts in chronological order felt as if I myself had gone on tour with the band."

The idea is now fully realized with this release, which collects the entire 2014 American tour on two Blu-ray discs.

The tour marks the beginning of the last great era in King Crimson's history. Here, the band gradually finds its form in front of the audience, develops the arrangements, and plays its way into increasing self-confidence. The fascination lies not only in the many powerful concerts but also in the evolution from night to night – the small changes in intensity, the interplay of the drummers, the weight of a Mellotron passage, and the moments when an arrangement suddenly falls perfectly into place.

The classic compositions play a central role. "Pictures Of A City", "Sailor's Tale", "The Letters", "Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part I", "Starless", and "One More Red Nightmare" do not sound like nostalgic revivals, but like music that has been given new life. The band explores what the tracks can still contain, which underscores Robert Fripp's philosophy that music should be "new every time it is played".

At the same time, newer compositions like "Level Five" and "The ConstruKction Of Light" gain extra power and depth in this lineup, as if the music has finally found its perfect expression.

Part of what makes this tour so exciting to revisit is the balance between technical precision and humanity. The musicians play with immense intensity, but without losing spontaneity. One hears the audience's reactions, small mistakes, quick saves, smiles after a botched moment, and the feeling of seven musicians constantly listening to each other, while something greater than routine takes shape.

One can almost both hear and see the risk, concentration, humor, and enthusiasm of a band discovering that it still has a new future ahead of it.
