The Invite (2026 film)
"The Invite" is a sharp and mature romantic comedy directed by Olivia Wilde, who herself plays one of the main roles alongside Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton.
Joe and Angela's marriage is hanging by a thread. They argue constantly, and the spark that once existed between them seems to have long since disappeared. When Angela, against Joe's will, invites their enigmatic upstairs neighbors Piña and Hawk for dinner, an awkward evening of polite small talk, wine, and culinary disasters begins. But when the guests come up with a surprising proposal, to say the least, the dinner takes a completely different turn, forcing both couples to confront their relationship, frustrations, and hidden longings.
With most of the action centered around the four characters, "The Invite" uses the disastrous dinner as a starting point for a humorous and at times embarrassingly recognizable examination of relationships, sex, jealousy, and life in a long-term marriage.
