Tarja Turunen | Frisson Noir
Following a period of intense creative exploration, the iconic Finnish soprano and symphonic metal pioneer Tarja Turunen is set to release her highly anticipated new studio album, 'Frisson Noir'. The record represents a profound journey into the shadows of the human psyche, blending Tarja’s operatic brilliance with a darker, more cinematic rock-oriented edge than ever before.
Produced by Tarja herself alongside longtime collaborator Tim Palmer (known for his work with Pearl Jam and Robert Plant), Frisson Noir—French for "Black Thrill"—captures a specific aesthetic of elegant darkness. This project marks her first traditional rock/metal studio album since 2019’s In the Raw, moving away from the seasonal and compilation projects of recent years to deliver what Tarja herself describes as the heaviest record of her career.
Across the record, Tarja is joined by a diverse cast of collaborators, including former Nightwish bandmate Marko Hietala, Apocalyptica, Dani Filth, and Chad Smith.
