Now Yearbook 1972
NOW is proud to present the next chapter in their ongoing NOW Yearbook series. This time, the journey goes back to 1972 with 80 excellent tracks on the 4CD editions and 50 songs on the 3LP, which will be pressed on blue vinyl.
The compilation opens with a timeless favorite, often associated with Christmas, ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’ by John Lennon, The Plastic Ono Band, Yoko Ono & The Harlem Community Choir – and it kicks off a series of classics, including Rod Stewart’s #1 ‘You Wear It Well’, ‘A Horse With No Name’ from America and ‘America’ from Simon & Garfunkel, released as a single in 1972 to promote the duo’s Greatest Hits. More legendary artists follow, including Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney & Wings, Elton John and ELO.
In 1972, glam rock truly became popular, and the genre is therefore well represented with, among others, Alice Cooper’s #1 hit ‘School’s Out’ as well as tracks from star bands and singers like Roxy Music, David Bowie, Sweet, Slade and Jeff Beck. A strong soul year is also cemented by, among others, Bill Withers’ ‘Lean On Me’, Love Unlimited’s ‘Walkin’ In The Rain With The One I Love’ and Sly & The Family Stone’s ‘Family Affair’.
