Charanjit Singh | Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat
Indian multi-instrumentalist and composer Charanjit Singh (1940–2015) never intended to be an electronic dance music pioneer when he recorded 1982’s Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat. Yet three decades later, his inventive use of state-of-the-art synthesizers and drum machines would prompt some to crown him the “Godfather of Acid House."
Originally released in 1982 and unheard by the world for decades, Ten Ragas is now widely recognized as one of the most visionary electronic albums ever recorded.
The album has been newly remastered and will be reissued as a deluxe 2LP and CD - including a booklet with never-before-seen photos and commentary from Discostan's Arshia Fatima Haq & Jeremy Loudenback, as well as Singh's former manager, filmmaker and author Rana Ghose.
