At the end of Covenant, Phoenix private eye Ken McGreevey caught a bullet when two criminals confronted him on a crowded downtown street. Only, he didn't catch it from one of them-a Phoenix cop shot him accidentally.
What seems at first like a lucky "flesh wound" turns into an infection that nearly kills McGreevey, and in a fevered delirium, he flashes back to when he was 12 and found his father dead of an apparent accident. Only, something he now remembers makes McGreevey reconsider, and he decides his father may have been murdered.
This suspicion launches a recovering McGreevey into a single-minded mission of vengeance and mayhem that leads him to confront an old enemy from his days as a deputy sheriff, entangles him with shadowy federal agents and threatens to boil over and wreck his family.
