Imogen Sumner-Miller had a dream. Not just to have a career as a member of a large ensemble progressive rock band exclusively featuring women, but a large ensemble rock progressive rock band exclusively featuring curvaceous women.
The first step to achieving her goal was for the band she formed - The Exquisite Curves - to win the upcoming Toronto University Battle of the Bands contest (TUBB for short). Standing in her band's way were four other bands. These consisted of a Punk rock band that played some of the crassest, most simplistic, brutal, ugly and stupid music imaginable; a controversially diverse Death Metal band; a Thrash Metal band that couldn't spell; and a Goth rock band that was so depressing in its sound that it's music made the novel Lord of the Flies seem like it was a novelization of an episode of Gilligan's Island by comparison.

Imogen's dream did not encompass having her band play at being amateur detectives as they solved a murder (even if the music of the other four bands in the competition was so horrific that it often gave her the urge to become a murderer). Nevertheless, The Exquisite Curves would take on the role of top sleuths as they came together as a band, as someone in the competition was prepared to kill in order to win.

Murder at the Battle of the Bands is the debut novel for The Exquisite Curves - the world's only* all-female, all-curvy, 9-member progressive rock band who are also amateur detectives in their spare time!

*At least, as far as we know!
