You want to find a book that a child with a dyslexia reading style will want to read. You know that dyslexics can be high achievers, yet too many children's books purporting to be friendly for dyslexia assume that these children have a limited vocabulary and are unable to grasp ideas, enjoy jokes or show intelligence. Dyslexia should not condemn the bright, dyslexic child to banal, basal readers.

This dyslexic friendly version of No One Knows has been prepared based on the results of extensive research. It employs a large, dyslexic friendly font in a trim size sufficient to allow space around the text. However, these familiar characteristics are not nearly sufficient to allow young, dyslexic learners to enjoy reading. This version of No One Knows includes many additional features, such as increased tracking, leading and inter-word spacing and large indents. You will notice the ragged justification. Bold is used for emphasis and italics.

Research has shown that leading and tracking ratios are crucial in producing a dyslexia friendly text: standard values result in letters, words and lines moving before the eyes and becoming fused; if the percentage increases are too great, the result is confusion, as letters, words and lines then appear disjointed, impeding transition from the end of one line to the beginning of the next.

Many dyslexic achievers say that once they made the breakthrough to enjoying reading, they began to devour books in standard publications. This book therefore uses the most important conventions for books of fiction, and towards the end a short passage incorporating slightly tighter leading, and italics used for emphasis, has been introduced.

Buy this story for bright, dyslexic children and observe how the enjoyment of reading can result.
