The Cultural Identity of Mankon: Reflecting the Fon Ben Fru Wara

By the worries of the Author Dr. Ben Fru Wara, Mankon as well as many other traditional societies across the globe, suffer immensely from the impact of modern civilization, deemed to drain or weaken most of the essential customary practices and believes that make up ancestral values of many cultural peoples. Quoting a number situations in which the utmost respect for traditional authority and ethical customs have lose their moral impact and grip upon his people, the author decided to carry out an elemental investigation into the traditional societies and habits that solidified the Mankon people of old, and then, reflected such beauty with what has now become a society of immoral tolerance and laissez-faire corruptness. Where have such loyal and rich cultural allegory of my people disappeared to? He cried out loud. In effect, the intention of the author has been materialized through actual revelations and revival of the truth behind the authentic traditions and cultures of the Mankon people since the pre-colonial period till date. In the same light, he majestically illuminates the traditional supremacy of the role of the Fon (king) as the political, religious, economic, and judiciary authority over his people, while also, diligently enumerating all the traditional processes and eventualities that link the political and cultural or customary leadership of Mankon with the Mankon people. In crowning the efforts made so far and in support for global efforts towards the wellbeing of Indigenous Peoples, the author, with support of the Modern Advocacy Humanitarian Social and Rehabilitation Association (MAHSRA), inclined that this piece of literature will not only serve as an eye opener or, be of interest to the Mankon people, but also, will be a very resourceful tool to anthropologist, ethnologists, archaeologists, psychologists, historians and other like social thinkers and researchers.
