A civilization is a complex human society, usually made up of different cities, with certain characteristics of cultural and technological development. In many parts of the world, early civilizations formed when people began coming together in urban settlements.
This course was an Occidental College course, comprised of Professors giving lectures on their specialized topics during the time period of that part of the course.
The time periods started with the Pre-historic, Egyptian, Chinese, Roman, Grecian, Biblical, Moslems in Spain, Middle Ages (1500's), Inquisition, Crusades, Global Exploration (1992- 1600s), Renaissance, Rise of Cities, Revolutionary Period (1800s), Industrial Revolution (1800-1900), and Modern Civilization (1900-Present). This course was dropped in 1960 when civilization began evolving at such a rapid pace due to expansion of technology.
