When they arrived back at home, they noticed that the front yard had been mowed. Grandpa always mowed the lawn on Thursdays. They all got out of the truck and helped Grandma bring in the groceries before Grandpa would sit back in his recliner chair to finish reading his daily newspaper and rest up from the shopping trip. Zander went out the front door to look at the mowed grass. The mowed grass puzzled him. His detective mind went to work. He came back inside to get his detective hat, magnifying glass, and detective notepad and pencil that Grandma had bought him a few months before. He dashed back out the front again and started observing his surroundings. The first thing he noticed was that the grass was cut much shorter and there were no grass shavings on the ground."
