In the autumn of 2019 I passed through the gates of Vipassana retreat center, left my stuff in the lobby's locker and went to my designated room. Ten days later, the one who left was a different person. Different in what way? How is it possible that ten days of silent retreat can permanently alter a person's perspective on life? The short version is that in those ten days I discovered how my personal hell looked like, how I built it by myself, and how absolutely and definitely painful it was. I learned that all aggressive, dismissive gestures, hurtful words I ever posed had consequences. That I don't get away with anything. Sooner or later every hurtful gesture I ever posed will invariably come back haunting me. I learned that karma is as real as it can be, but it's an internal event, not an external one. The long version constitutes the subject of this book.
