Through fortuitous, though traumatic events, Henry and George are freed from the vicious, abusive tyranny of their families.

Their lives appear to be markedly better, but time and distance sever the connection between them and their lives diverge.

For the first time, it seems that the road ahead will be well-lit for both of them. Each finds success and a measure of tranquility. However, they still carry the weight of childhood trauma into their new lives, and it continues to haunt and challenge them.

The daily battle becomes an all-consuming endeavor that will change them in ways they could not foresee. Through love, loss and betrayal, their challenge is to hold on to enough remnants of their integrity, dignity and decency to build new identities - for the first time, ones of their own making.
