Aiden and Liam Kirkpatrick own Black Hat Fishing, professionally guiding salmon anglers on Oregon's Columbia River and nearby tributaries while keeping order as undercover Game Wardens for the state. As former military professionals, they also use their unique skills to moonlight as private detectives for Avalanche Investigations.

It's a busy life that becomes a dangerous one when the brothers get caught up in a cold case murder investigation of a local fishing guide and his girlfriend. Initially appearing as a crime of passion, the brothers soon come to suspect the murders may be part of a conspiracy to seize control of the billion-dollar sport fishing industry of the West.

The Kirkpatricks are not about to tolerate anyone attempting to kill their way to get their way, and when a trusted friend is murdered, and another almost dies, the brothers set out to wage war on the most likely suspects. One is an unscrupulous, vicious business executive, and the other a psychopath with a penchant for fire. Both are hell-bent on attaining power and money regardless of who stands in the way. . .death will shadow their endeavor.
