Awaiting the Holy Spirit
Fortunatus Nwachukwu
The opening meditation builds on the recognition that when we await a guest, we usually try to identify the guest's likes and make provision for them. Similarly, to prepare for the coming of the Holy Spirit, we should be asking ourselves, "what does the Spirit say to us or what does he expect of us?" The reflections, therefore, begin with a call to listen to the Holy Spirit. Attention is drawn to the expression which is repeated seven times, in the opening chapters of the book of Revelation, "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches"
