Matthew's Dilemma is a work of Christian historical fiction that addresses important questions such as how were the Gospels actually written? How much "Gospel truth" is truly authentic? What challenges did the Gospel writers face? How did they decide what to include in their stories? For years, Matthew, son of an apostle, was riddled with doubts about the conflicting myths, lore, and storyteller accounts around this man who was crucified forty years earlier. As warring factions and occupying Roman armies were wiping out the population throughout Judea and destroying the temple, the teachings of this so-called Messiah seemed wrongheaded: turn the other cheek and love your enemies. After many dark nights of his soul, Matthew eventually starts writing his story despite all the unanswered questions that plague him.
