There is no better way to get a sense of the history of a place than seeing its development through the eyes of the ones who live there; what they saw and what they built is of significant value to historians. This book is a compilation of the stories of citizens that made substantial contribution or service to the Morgan County, Colorado community. Descendants composed submissions and provided photos that tell the stories of the remarkable people who shaped Morgan County. Their individual stories demonstrate the iconic spirit of the plains that can perhaps best be summarized by the old adage, where there is a will, there is a way. Chosen by the Community History Writers of Morgan County, a subcommittee of the Fort Morgan Heritage Foundation, these individuals left a legacy in many different ways. Examples include a business owner of longstanding, school board member, volunteer, city council member, or local philanthropists. Included in this volume are many individuals who were born prior to 1935. The best part of this project was hearing from participants how much they loved remembering their family members, and teaching the subsequent generations all about them. It is the continuation of the stories begun in the first volume, One Hundred and Eleven Trees.
