CICI Reagan
Wasted is a collection of eleven poems written over several years while CiCi Reagan, the author, was in active addiction, struggling to maintain sobriety, and finally in recovery. As a domestic abuse survivor and recovering alcoholic, CiCi brings her unique perspective to this time-honoured medium. From Bleeding Out, which was written during a panic attack, to Behind My Eyes, a piece about sleep paralysis and the demons it brings, to Brains and Pancakes, a shorter poem about the numbing effect of anti-depressants, these poems aren't your typical inspiration pieces. They were written to fill no other agenda but complete honesty. This is what it really feels like to struggle against addiction.
