Polish people have faced poverty and near extinction in Europe, finding ways to survive and grow stronger with each new generation. Wisdom, acceptance, and love are traits that Agniela's children in America have passed on to future generations, along with old customs and fervent faith. These traits carry them through challenges of modern American culture, customs, and problems. Agniela, Jadwiga, and Michalina are strong women who are able to adapt to and accept being strong American women with families that struggle to overcome age-old problems of prejudice and new ones of addiction and a virus in 2020 which is affecting the entire world.
