Like those before, we have loved and lost. And, despite the universalism of heartbreak, the experience is deeply personal and unique. We become consumed by persuasive emotions and rationality occasionally fades. We act impulsively and even against our own morals or true character. This is not something to condemn too harshly as it is part of the human struggle to process pain. Still, it is important to think of the experience as a challenge to demonstrate accountability. Move beyond fixating on the pain inflicted from others and acknowledge one's own contribution to the circumstance. Understand the impact the chosen grieving process has on the development of one's character and relationships. Reflection is key. Here, I have shared my thoughts and experiences after heartbreak as they shifted back and forth between feelings, mistakes and intermittent growth. I hope we can grow and reflect together.
