Dancing With Fireflies Frank Berlingeri

Dancing with Fireflies is a poem as well as a reference to Frank Berlingeri's first novel, Time Clock Café. The scene refers to when the protagonist follows his high school crush into the woods on a camping trip and kisses, who is to become, his first love for the first time. The first half of Dancing with Fireflies was written when Mr. Berlingeri, though not chronologically, thought with the mind of an adolescent. The second half begins after several broken hearts, after having felt the sting of betrayal (both from women and friends) and struggled with many years of self-destructive behavior or, as he calls it, "the Dark Years." If you have lived, if you have loved, if you've fallen and gotten back up, you will feel the words contained in Dancing with Fireflies.
