AngelFall is a story in verse - an epic poem - of the adventures of a boy named Kip. Having travelled from Earth to the world of AngelFall, Kip quickly becomes a central figure all sides seek to use as war erupts between the Witch-King ruling in Erst and the dwarves of Rhûn. Smuggled out of Erst and to relative safety amongst the dwarves, King Unwin reveals to Kip the Prophecy: which foretells Kip's own arrival on AngelFall as a prelude to the downfall of the Witch-King. Equally amazed and puzzled by this revelation, Kip seeks guidance as to his next steps. Unwin advises him to seek refuge in Elvantine: whose protection and tutelage would grant Kip both a breathing space and a chance to consult with a person known as the Sage. Kip's plans to journey to Elvantine are accelerated by the infiltration into Rhûn of assassins hired by the Witch-King to eliminate him. While Unwin concentrates on hunting down the assassins, Prince Dundoin escorts Kip to the dubious safety of the caverns that run deep under the mountains.
