Robert Browning's Porphyria's Lover is not only a poetry of absurdity but also a poetry of mystery. The poem describes the tragic death of Porphyria who is strangled by her lover for whom she can ignore the storms and walks the darkness crossing the boundaries of societal dogma and hierarchy . The confused eccentric lover finds the only way to get her permanently and wins her forever by strangling. The reason behind the murder of Porphyria has remained a mystery and often the readers have to complete the poem with an unanswered question.
