Assimilating In America
Kenneth Burrough
Drawing upon over fifty years of first-hand experience as a beneficiary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Assimilating in America is a prophetic interpretation of not only the inconsistencies and contradictions that have emerged among African-Americans as a consequence of being compelled to assume a foreign identity, history and culture here in America, but the absurdities and oddities that have spread among Americans as repercussions to oppressing and slaughtering people while claiming "Christian" ideals. A prophetic approach was taken by Dr. King. His speeches and teachings always reflected the same general concerns as did the preaching of the Bible's prophets and Jesus Himself, and this is how he was able to leave an indelible stamp on the conscience of a nation. In that same vein, the author takes a critical look at the faithfulness of America and it's oppressed Black citizens who both claimed to embrace this same Jesus, during this most trying of times.
