Scientist Jack Blundell heads the pathology laboratory at a medical centre in Wales. He lectures at a local university and attends science conferences in North America. Whilst at a convention in Seattle with his colleague James Hooper, they have an unexpected programme of events. James gets falsely arrested for a series of homicides following the discovery of detailed evidence at the crime scenes. Determined to prove his innocence, Jack and his friends pursue their own investigation. Together they unearth a sinister plot involving ancient script, pagan worship and ritual sacrifice. In the meantime, a further victim is discovered in Seattle whilst James is imprisoned. Realising that they have the wrong man, the police release him without charge. Reunited with his friends, they make an alarming discovery when they identify those accountable. Back home in Wales, the plot continues with a horrifying twist and Jack struggles to keep his emotions in check. Following countless inquiries, he makes a disturbing breakthrough on the web pages of an equestrian centre in Pembrokeshire. Jack alerts the authorities after discovering questionable information and further arrests are made. For closure, he later visits the area and realises that the conspiracy is far from complete. Retribution, indoctrination, religious conviction and justice are all components in this tale of intrigue, mystery and suspense. For Jack, his world stood still.
