Over the years, as an author, I have noted down little snippets I have come across that have made me smile, writes Andrew Townsend. Sometimes, the smiles were happy smiles while, at other times, the smiles came through gritted teeth - but at least I was still smiling through the ups and downs of life! On some occasions, the people involved in the real-life stuff were winning but, at other times, there were definitely not on the lucky side of the street.
