The Anachronist Shadow Forest
The Anachronist
Shadow Forest
Donovan Galloway, married father of two in the Detroit suburbs, partakes in a stroll in the park one summer's evening in 2015 and collapses. When he awakens, he finds he's been transported to 1947 for reasons unknown. He descends into a psychological downward spiral as he tries to make sense of his experience and lands in a mental asylum, battling denial, grief, anger and finally acceptance of his incredible circumstances. He struggles to assimilate into the 1940s as an anachronist - someone belonging to a period other than that in which he exists - and fights off feelings of deep internal guilt when he falls for a woman, Evelyn, in his new era. His budding romantic relationship and integration into his new "life" are abruptly interrupted by a mysterious stranger who claims to be a fellow "anachronist," as well as by nefarious characters tracking him down who want to exploit his knowledge of the future for governmental gain. Donovan's diary-style journey is a meticulous insight into the mind and emotions of an ordinary individual experiencing the extraordinarily supernatural that turns his belief system upside down; a frightened man trying to make sense of the new world around him and questioning his every step into the unknown.
