As one of the first black crane operators in South Florida, Willie Leland faced overt racism and discrimination. Although being in his position was not always easy, Willie helped pave the way for other blacks in the industry. Overcoming challenges in his childhood, he was determined to be "somebody." In his quest to create the life he wanted, Willie demonstrated a quiet strength and learned to trust and depend on God.
