Macbeth

Macbeth is a tragedy by the English playwright William Shakespeare, about a regicide and its consequences. It is the shortest Shakespearean tragedy, and is believed to have been written between 1603 and 1607. The first account of a performance of the play is from April 1611, when Simon Forman recorded seeing it at the Globe Theater in London. The work was first published in the Folio, in 1623, possibly from a transcript of some specific performance. Over the centuries the play has attracted some of the greatest actors of its time to the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The work has already been adapted for cinema, television, opera, comics and many other media. One of Shakespeare's best-known works is essential for high culture.
