Roisin 'Rosheen' Lovelace - born in Dublin as Mary Riley - is a minor celebrity who undertakes acting parts when she gets the chance. The problem is that despite her remarkable good looks, with a beguiling smile and gorgeous red hair that cascades down her shoulders and over her generous breasts, she has a fiery temper. Moreover, she has an inability to keep her mouth shut about anything that she judges to be unsatisfactory and that is almost everything and everyone around her. This character flaw means that she loses more than a few well-paid roles in film and on television. The inability to hold onto a paying job results in her anger spilling over into bouts of violence towards her male housemate; one of these resulting in him having to be hospitalised after she takes a knife to him. The infatuated young man refuses to press charges and Roisin gets away with her assault upon him. Roisin tries to mend her ways when she lands a job as the anchor of a reality television show with a much older man as producer. Unfortunately, he turns out to be a sexual predator and in private, he treats Roisin little better than a common street-walker. She seeks romance from a member of the reality show cast and is found out and that results in her losing her job and being sent back home to an uncertain future. She falls in with a dangerous man who eventually leads her from well-paid escort to a planned life as a locked-up prostitute. Salvation and romance come to her from a most unlikely source and she finds true love with a woman who is more than she seems.
