- 'Clever and appealing' MARTIN EDWARDS, author of THE GOLDEN AGE OF MURDER - 'A complicated detective story' TIMES LITERARY SUPPLEMENT. The problem of the mysterious disappearance of Sir James Lyttleton was peculiarly baffling for Chief Inspector Candlish of Scotland Yard. Lyttleton had sent a curt wire announcing his departure for America and then completely vanished. It was the chance discovery of a body floating in a stream in Sussex which provided the first clue, for there were several very singular facts about it, and soon after James Lyttleton's body was found in another man's coffin... ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Ronald Arthur Vennor Morris was born in Wales in 1877 but spent much of his life in England, working in London before moving to Hove in Sussex with his family. THE LYTTLETON CASE is his only work of crime fiction and was first published in 1922 and later selected for the DETECTIVE STORY CLUB, the forerunner of the famous COLLINS CRIME CLUB. He died in 1943.
