After seventeen-year-old Ember Crane discovers a mysterious letter addressed to her from an unknown sender, her younger sister, Emory, suddenly vanishes. In effort to find her sister, Ember leaves her desert homeland and sets off on a trek towards a distant mountain the letter speaks of. She crosses the unforgiving desert of Pyrros, her home realm, and discovers a place called the Nethergreen Forest. She soon discovers that her world is just one of three realms that connect in a central location to form one larger world called Trithera. Ember quickly learns the Three Realms are in grave danger and the fate of Trithera rests solely in her hands.
