More than one, possibly up to six persons involved, each bringing their own particular skills to the team. Probably members of the local or surrounding community and living within 10-20 km of the crime scene. Apart from the leader, likely to be of low educational level and unemployed. Likely to have existing criminal records ranging from petty crimes to break-ins and robberies. Opportunistic in approach to life and criminal behaviour. At least one would be a skilled artisan with expertise in the use of power tools and welding equipment. Will have access to a well-equipped workshop either at home or at a rental facility. Someone with a good knowledge of tunnel excavation and experience in working underground.
