Shankaracharya composed several thought-provoking profound texts, small and large, to streamline and popularise the study of non-dual Vedanta in ancient India. He resolved the various philosophical problems with his convincing and sound logic. By defeating other contemporary experts, who are advocating other non-Vedic lines of thought, he resurrected the trust in the Vedas and Upanishads. In this book, I have taken two of his popular works:1. Vakya Vritti - Explains a simple method to know our reality through conversation between a guru and his disciple. If we remove the changing attributes from our definition of 'I', an ever-present conscious witness only remains. This is the same as the supreme reality or God and it is also the intended meaning of the statement 'You are that.'. 2. Laghu Vakya Vritti - When the thoughts in our mind stop, our consciousness shows in its purest form. Our consciousness connects the two thoughts, just as a thread connects the pearls in a garland.
