This thesis describes sensors and sensor-actuator systems for the continuous monitoring of laundry during washing. The focus is on the sensor fabrication techniques using thin-film batch processing. By starting with the processing, the sensors and actuators can be integrated into a single tiny sensor head. Besides technology, the book is about the physical and electrochemical methods as well as the algorithms to derive the highest quality of knowledge from the sensors. Addressed measurement quantities are: temperature, bleach activity, electrolyte conductivity and water hardness.
