A beleaguered history Professor, Dr. Ilsa Guilford-Schlitz, discovers long-forgotten documents in a dusty archive. They show that Ray Almaviva, a small businessman jailed by a pitiless and corrupt IRS, turns out to the be descendant of a Spanish grandee who pinched gold from the 1778 Treasure Fleet to fund George Washington's Revolutionary Army when the American cause was almost lost. In gratitude, the Continental Congress rewarded him with the only title of nobility ever granted in American history - the Duke of Almaviva. With the title came a deed to swamp land on the Potomac River, which just happens today to be a sizable chunk of Washington, D. C. And Ray discovers he owns it. Suddenly, President McGaffer has to deal with 242 years of legal, financial, and military history unraveling like a cheap sweater. He gingerly frees Ray from tax prison, hoping that offering a cool five million dollars will elicit a quiet settlement. But Ray, stung by an over-reaching government, has other ideas, and the hysterical showdown of all time begins.
